Find the silver lining

Reading Time: 3 minutes

We had a super weekend just gone; Friday night, we drove over to Manchester to see Kacey Musgraves at the Ritz. it was her first UK date, and she was playing Glastonbury then moving on to Europe for the rest of her tour. It was a fairly spur of the moment decision – I was procrastinating over some exam marking, and decided to have a look at some gigs then realised she was touring. A week later, there we were!

She put on a great show; I love artists who interact with their audience, who appreciate their fans and actually seem to enjoy what they do. I have the album – it’s why I’m at the show – so I’m usually looking for something more personal at a gig. Thea Gilmore’s always fab at that – she always feels really friendly with her audience and always plays some other songs or covers (and I’m in awe of how much she writes!) Kacey had a good rapport with the audience and seemed to love being there, which was really cool. She played pretty much everything off her album Same Trailer Different Park, as well as a couple of covers (Dolly Parton, Bob Marley, TLC’s No Scrubs which was an unusual choice but went down really well) and a couple of other songs of her own. I love country music and it’s been playing pretty much constantly in our house for months – the Bob Harris show on Thursday is amazing, and I have Kacey and Chris Young on repeat at the moment!

The rest of the weekend was equally brilliant – on Saturday we sorted out someone to come and do our rewiring which is amazingly exciting – one of the major things we were looking forward to in our new house was doing diy and fixing it up, but this needs doing first so we don’t end up doing it twice! once it’s done though, watch this space – we have tons of ideas and we’re going to document all of it. VERY exciting! Spur of the moment dinner out (seem to be making a habit of sudden awesome decisions!) and seeing Three Days to Kill rounded off Saturday 🙂  Sunday I managed to spend most of the morning in my pjs – a very rare occurrence – and the afternoon was writing a story for a competition deadline this week, and garden maintenance (destroying some triffid-like brambles which have taken over!)

I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by – it seems like the summer holidays will be here in no time, and we have such plans ahead!
